What is a Photo Safari?
A photo safari is a program Masterpiece Images started in 2010 to give families a low cost option for fun and more exotic family portrait sessions. We set aside a day to do one family portrait after another. We choose the location (which is usually a more exotic place). We stay there all day photographing family portraits. Because we don’t have to travel from location to location we are able to do more portraits in one day. We pass the savings on to our clients.
How much does a Photo Safari session cost?
Nothing. We want to fill those session times with as many families as we can so we do not charge a session fee. After the images are taken the family can choose which images they want to print.
How many images do you have to buy?
You are not required to buy any images if you do not want. We find, however, that most people do choose to buy images. It is hard to tell you how much that will be. If you want more images it will be more. If you want fewer images it will be less. We find most of our clients will spend anywhere from $60 to $800 on average.
Where are the locations?
We have photographed in several locations. We have done Old Snowbasin Road, Wheeler Canyon, Saltair, Tony’s Grove and more. In the future, as this program becomes more well known, we would like to offer locations such as Moab, St. George or Yellowstone. We feel if we can get at least 4 families in a location it is worth doing. If you have any ideas and can get 4 families together let us know and we would love to go photograph.
How do you sign up?
Space is limited. We usually have a maximum of 6 spots in each safari. Many times there are even fewer. If you find a day and a location that you want call as soon as possible. A $20 retainer holds you spot on that day. After the session that $20 will then be applied to your order. If you choose not to order anything we will refund the full $20. If you don’t show up the retainer is not refundable.
