baby photography contest

We would like to announce our 4th annual Baby Contest.

Our baby contest is for any children 12 months and younger.  There is no cost to participate and no obligation to buy anything (although if you would like to purchase prints you are welcome to).  All you have to do is set an appointment time, let our receptionist know the session is for the baby contest and come on in.

We recommend you bring some cute things that will set your child apart.  Since the general public will be voting you want to make your baby stand out.

We will be booking session between February 1st and March 15th.  Voting will start March 20th at Just Girls Stuff on Riverdale Road.  We have great prizes for the winners this year.  We will have portrait books, baby quilts, family portrait packages, and gift certificates from Just Girls Stuff just to name a few.

Wedding Tragedy Story

Photography is a tough service to shop for.  You may find that one photographer has an 8×10 print priced for $5 and another photographer priced at $75.  How do you know which one to choose?  Which is the best value?  That is a hard question to answer.  This is a story from one of our family portrait clients that may help you know what is happening with photography.

One of our client’s now daughter-in-law decided to hire her brother to photograph their wedding.  After the engagement session, the daughter-in-law decided her brother wasn’t good enough to do the wedding and so she fired him.  Our client, who was the mother of the groom, suggested to use Masterpiece Images.  The daughter-in-law told her “your style isn’t my style” and hired another person to do the wedding.

This photographer took the bridals and had two photographers on the wedding day.  The mother of the groom reported to us that none of the bridals looked good and from two photographers only 50 total images were delivered from the wedding day.  Apparently one of the photographers didn’t have anything turn out that could be shown to the client and the other one only had 50 images.  This package cost them over $1000 and the photographer gave them back $100 to make up for the mistake.

I share this story to let you know some of the bad mistakes people are making with their wedding photography.  There are good photographers out there but you do need to be extremely careful when choosing so you don’t end up regretting your decision.  If anyone has questions about what to look for we would be happy to give unbiased information.

As we meet with brides who are planning their wedding, one of the most common concerns that they share is that they won’t look good in their pictures or that their pictures wont turn out.  There are many reasons this might be, including the how well the dress matches their body type, the way they did their hair as well as the photographer that they selected.  Ryan, one of our photographers, spoke about this topic recently at a hair demonstration held at the Bridal Gathering on January 14, 2012.  Check out what he had to say on the subject:

For those who weren’t able to be a part of the funeral procession of Officer Jared Francom, we thought we would share what it looked like as the procession made its way past our studio on Washington Blvd.
